ted: torrent episode downloader

Add your favourite tv shows to ted and ted will automatically download torrents of new episodes!

I was just thinking a couple days ago that someone should do this… DVR “season pass” style bittorrent downloading, and it works on Linux - a perfect add-on for a MythTV box.

A Brief History of the Web

From Web 1.0 to Web 2.0, expanding on Tim O’Reilly’s Meme Map which gives examples of Web 1.0 companies and their 2.0 successors.  It’s pretty unbelievable to me that it has still been less than a year since the term AJAX was coined.

Google Pack sounds interesting

Google to sell video, take on Apple; announces Google Pack

“Google Pack,” a bundle of applications that will be made available for download in a single installation bundle. Sources tell us that Google pack will feature a Google-tweaked version of Firefox, Adobe Acrobat Reader, antivirus software from Symantec, AdAware, Trillian, and Google’s own offerings, including Google Desktop Search, Picasa, Google Earth, Google Talk, and all of the toolbar action you can shake a stick at. Oh, and I left out one other item: the RealPlayer.

The inclusion of RealPlayer is very interesting and seems to me to be out of character for Google. I can’t remember a time when Google supported a technology or software package that I wasn’t a fan of and as the ArsTechnica article says, “RealPlayer could be described as significantly unpopular among savvy users.” It will be interesting to see to what extent they are integrating it into their for-sale video content. I hope it’s not the only choice.
