The Goal That Took Us to Iraq

Friday, November 10th, 2006

When Condi talks about “the goal that took us to Iraq,” is she referring to finding the WMDs that were an imminent threat, combating terrorism (by making it easier for al Qaeda to recruit), or the promotion of what by almost every account is a failing democracy?

Rice: Democrats Won’t End Iraq Mission - New York Times

Condoleezza Rice says the Democratic wave that won the party control of Congress did nothing to deter the Bush administration from continuing its Iraq mission until ”the goal that took us to Iraq” is reached.

“We have come together,” said the signers of the Constitution Project’s accusation, “because we agree that we face a constitutional crisis. . . . The separation of powers is not a mere ‘technicality.’ It is the centerpiece of our Constitution—and our freedoms depend on it.”

It just gets harder and harder to understand how 51% of the country voted for this guy after four years of his punishment.

The Real Cause of Blackouts - Mises Institute

Just think about this general principle. When some good or service is in high demand, and economically feasible to deliver to those who demand it, and it is not being delivered in a way that is consistent with consumer welfare, you can bet that the state is involved. Get the state out of it, and you will see the dawning of an era without fear of blackouts.

The lack of competition gives the power companies no motivation to change after this blackout in Queens or the blackout of August 2003. Add competition and innovation would take place, prices would come down and service would improve. Simple.

Barkley may run in 2010

“Alabama, that’s my home. I’m thinking about running for governor; they need the help,” Barkley said as the crowd laughed. “If it wasn’t for Arkansas and Mississippi, we’d be dead last in everything. I think we can do better.”

I can’t think of anything specific but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the round mound of rebound say some pretty dumb stuff on TNT. Stranger things have happened though.

The Ugly Truth About the President

Would you let him do the books for your business? Would you trust your company in his hands for eight years? (No matter how Republican you are, you know you just said no to that question.) Would you trust him to be your kids’ guidance counselor and take his advice seriously? If your kids were in the Army and he was their field commander, would you feel good about putting their lives in his hands?

Well said.
